Win 10/FF I reinstalled FF after automatically downloading 73.0 and I had a terrible day on computer yesterday. SLOW. It was fine today, for some reason, so there are no issues I can detect. Because I have an old laptop, should I download the 32-bit version? I spent a lot of time restoring FF, even though I thought everything would rollover. Can I do the change w/o reinstalling everything???

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.


Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Two question: what is the difference between MSI and not version? Okay - MSI is the installer...


I always uninstall FF before reinstalling. Must I always uninstall first? Do I now?

When you run the installer, it should overwrite what is in the program folder. On rare occasions, this causes problems, so we have the user do a full, clean reinstall. Meaning all program folders are manually removed.

It won't install on top - the program keeps closing.

So if I uninstall and reinstall, do I have to reload everything? (Either I prepare this time or I don't.)

The profile is separate and should not be affected. The new install should be able to find it.

I found the version in CP. After installing it, I was momentarily terrified. Figured I would deal with it in the morning.

Ahh! Great relief, and without breaking a sweat or having to create and sync FF accounts. All is well with profile. Unsure about behavior, yet.

Just reporting back that I am now on v 73.0.1 and still using 32-bit FF.

Whatever happened - that 64-bit version was a disaster for my computer.

I don't see how this problem is solved when it still does this in version 76.

And I don't need someone to tell me to check this, or tweak that. It's not the responsibility of the end user to get Firefox working properly.

This message doesn't come up in any other browser. It's annoying....fix it.

Too bad I am too attached - it makes me tolerate this crap for years on end. Cannot remember when I first began complaining, but it has been a long time.

Even I have this issue, "A web page is slowing down your browser." On W10, (64bit), FF 76.01. What do you suggest? Also I see these tags (?) Please take a look at the screen shot. Thanks.

I am getting this message all the time on v 77.01.

I reinstalled in February and should NOT have to do this again, now.

Is Mozilla working on this issue?

Ongoing issue. I thought I found a solution, but a new one appeared in its place. I did an about: config fix (cannot remember which, but here is an article on PROCESS HANG: https://www.downloadsource.net/how-to-fix-a-web-page-is-slowing-down-your-browser-on-firefox/n/15257/)

BTW, disabling possible addons and using Safe Mode did not resolve the issue.
