Hi You can choose different settings for how Junk filtering works. See this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages There is an option to not mark as junk anything in your address book. Remember that if you have the "adaptive junk" system turned on in Thunderbird, you need to mark a lot of messages as junk, and also mark messages as not junk, so that the Thunderbird settings can learn what you consider good messages or junk, from your choices over time. (Read in the article about Training the Junk Filter.) If you don't want to teach Thunderbird, then just turn off the adaptive junk setting.

Hi Agnes. I kept trying your advice to turn off the "Adaptive Junk" system. It kept on working for a while then eventually the junk button started to work sometimes (After 3 or 4 restarts). The junk system is still controlling some emails so I have to use the 2 j system or add the email address to my address book. I will give it some more time if not well good bye Thunderbird. I had tried turning off the junk system before and it had not worked. After receiving your email I just kept trying. So Thank you again. Lucho.

Can you confirm: Are you talking about a 'Pop' or 'Imap' mail account? Do you want Thunderbird to put junk mail automatically into the 'Junk' or (if imap) 'Spam' folder?
