Firefox crashes

Hello! My Firefox tabs crash constantly since I got a new computer. I have tried all the suggestions I can find in the forums. I did try downloading Firefox for enterprise but I could not figure out how to get it up and running, it seemingly installed, but Firefox seems to be the same. My new (to me) computer is a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2012 if that has anything to do with it. I have Parallels installed on my computer for the first time, if that might have anything to do with it. I have not had the problem with Firefox crashing within the Virtual Machine, though. Here is the latest submitted crash report: bp-f70bd533-3d22-4cd6-9f39-498920200121 Thank you for any insights and help!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

That is an old report from Firefox 70.0.1 that occurred December last year.

Aren't there more recent crash reports available ?

Maybe check for issues with fonts in Font Book.

Oh, sorry, I am not sure I can tell the date once they have submitted them, I just submitted a whole lot of them at once. Here is one I think is from today? bp-472b48d5-0374-4f75-a278-89b130200122

Could you tell me how I would check for issues in Font Book? Thank you for the help.

It seems to not be happening in Safe Mode. This is confusing to me, as I only have one Extension, which seems to be built-into Firefox (default-theme@mozilla.org). "The crashing happens frequently" is perhaps better wording than constantly, at least once daily, but there can be long stretches without it happening so I am going to try using Safe Mode for an extended period of time today. And, just to be clear, these are tabs crashing, not the whole Firefox app. Thanks for the help.

hello, please try to run a diagnostics tool to check for the health/integrity of your new computers memory, because defective ram modules can commonly cause crashes like these...

https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-test-the-ram-on-your-mac/

Thanks for that tip. I ran the test and there were no issues found.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting for changes to take effect.

Thanks, I will try that. A tab did just crash while in Safe Mode, for what it is worth. Thanks for all the input and help, everyone!

Cor-el, it appears that has solved the problem. I am noticing now, though, that YouTube is very glitch-- could this be related to making that change? Thank you!

Is there anything anyone else can suggest here? The problem continues. When I uncheck recommended performance settings the crashing stops but the glitchy-ness with video-heavy sites is unbearable. Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
