Heard about "Some pages or page elements fail to load after updating to Firefox 70" but I'm still having the problem on 72.0.2

I'm up to date, using 72.0.2, but the problems described with the article I mentioned are still happening to me. (Tried the workaround fix but it was already set the way I was told to set it, and anyway I'm not on Firefox 70.) Namely and with a specific example, Facebook's top bar loads but I don't get my feed, can't look at my notifications, etc etc. But several other sites have other functionality screwey. I was just ignoring it for a while, because like Facebook is not vital to my life, but now my college's Moodle site isn't working and I can't submit my assignments properly, so I'm going to have to switch browsers if I can't figure out what's wrong. Anybody else still having problems? Anybody have a solution? Thanks guys.

I don't see anything like this reported at Moodle, so that isn't any help.

Is your Enhanced Tracking Protection possibly set too strict? ☰Menu → Preferences → Privacy & Security page

And has this been happening consistently since the problem in 7.0.0 which was fixed in 7.0.1?

You might try a fresh install - download the installer, uninstall your current FF, and install the new one. I know the way Mac handles applications as disk images makes it a bit different, but something yet may have been borked in an update which this might fix.

The remaining option is things gone wrong in the user profile. You can make a new, fresh profile and test it. Type about:profiles in the address bar. Click Create a New Profile Give it a name. Do not "choose folder" Click Finish Scroll to the new profile Click Launch Profile in new Browser Close the original browser window

If this helps, then you can set the new profile as default, and copy over your important files (logins, bookmarks, etc.).

This is the same as Refreshing Firefox, only without destroying the existing profile (and possibly not backing up some older, more exotic files). https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Had you tried disabling or adjusting ABP or any similar extension (i do not believe i see your entire list) to see if the issue stops?

You can try starting Firefox in Safe Mode ☰Menu → Help → Restart with add-ons disabled

Yeah, I tried opening in Safe Mode to see if any addons were the issue, but things still didn't load when in Safe Mode. (I tested with Facebook again because the other not-loading content are less obvious and/or harder to get to.)

Ah, okay! The reinstall didn't work, so I tried the new profile and that indeed fixed it -- at least, it seems to have! Thank you so much for your responses; I really appreciate it.

Yeah, something in the old profile was stuck or we weren't guessing at the problematic setting.

You should be able to port your bookmarks and logins, etc., to the new profile. If re-adding extensions or adjusting non-UI settings (e.g., user scripts, about:config), do them one at a time and test so you will know which one breaks things, if any.

Hopefully all stays well for you. Can't be having issues with coursework, of all things.
