Why don't visited links show pink any more?

Using 72.0.1 (64-bit) in a new install of WinX, I no longer see visited links in a different color from unvisited ones. Is there a setting I can use to fix this?

Hi Anan, Were you using the built-in settings or an extension?

If you were using the built-in settings, maybe this article can help: Change the fonts and colors websites use

Scroll down to *Other settings for Colors you'll see information about links.

To make things more complicated, it seems that when I search on Google, the answer comes back from Yahoo. They have a nice layout, but the colors of visited and unvisited links are nearly identical. I tried to reset the options per the linked article, but that gave me a terrible new layout for search results: in a box rather than flowing down the page. So, any more options?

If you want to change the color of the visited links, you do this from the Firefox options. Open the Firefox options, click the General tab and find the Language And Appearance section. Then click the Colors button in that section. This allows you to change the default visited link color.

Hi again Anan, I've been looking through some other questions and it appears that if you can't find a color in the settings which works for you, you might want to look for an extension that will. Keep in mind that, by default, the website's preference of color takes precedence so, you might want to just find something that's close to the default colors.

I tried again to adjust the Firefox color options but it appears that to set the link colors, I also have to set the background and text colors; it's not an improvement to have all pages show stark black and white. So apparently I can't just fix the link colors to my preference and still allow pages to load the colors they want.

This brings me back to the original question: we used to be able to readily see the color difference between links visited and unvisited; this was a major convenience when running down a list of links to see which ones are really answering my question. Why was this changed? Why is there no way to change it back without affecting page and text background colors? Do I really need to install additional software to get back to the good old days with Firefox? Do the devs ever read these posts?

Can YOU tell which of these links I just clicked on?

Also make sure you do not use permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

Setting is "Firefox will remember history" but that doesn't make any difference to my problem. Am I the only one with this problem?
