Next bookmarks from one folder ready to read.

Are those individual tabs that were moved below the Bookmarks Toolbar using a userChrome.css file?

Yes, this may be a difference between Firefox and Safari: in Firefox, "Open All in Tabs" for a bookmark folder opens new tabs instead of replacing pages in the existing set of tabs. (Maybe someone should create an add-on to do it like Safari?)

To close a group of open tabs, you have a few different options:

(1) Close Other Tabs

If there is one tab you don't mind keeping open, such as an initial blank tab or home page, you can right-click (Ctrl+click) it and choose Close Other Tabs

(2) Multi-selected Tabs

You can close a group of tabs together if you multi-select them. For example:

Range: click the first one, Shift+click the last one, then either Command+w or right-click (Ctrl+click) > Close Tabs

All: right-click (Ctrl+click) > Select All Tabs, right-click (Ctrl+click) > Close Tabs

However, if you close all the tabs at once, the window might close and you'll have to open a new window. To prevent that, you can toggle this preference:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(B) In the search box above the list, type or paste tabs and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab preference to switch the value from true to false

(3) Close window/open new window

This probably is fastest but may pose a visual hazard:

  • Command+Shift+w closes the current window
  • Command+n opens a new window

Hi rob11, are you referring to the Bookmarks Sidebar (Command+b), or is this a problem with some other bookmark list? Or some other URL list I'm not thinking of?

I imported my bookmarks from Safari. A number of folders, each containing 8 to 10 bookmarks. After I finish going through one folder in Safari and select another folder, the previous folder vanished. So I only have 8 to 10 bokmarkes showing at a time on the top line. In it can not be made automatic is there a command that trashes all the current bookmarks before I call up the next folder?

Your "top line" on Mac might be different from mine on Windows. My top line is the the row of tabs for the open pages. What is the top line on yours?

Attached is the top of my Safari. First line where you see the word Prescott, that is the currently open page. Next line are my folders of bookmarks imported from Safari. They are displayed in the Bookmark Toolbar in Firefox. Next bookmarks from one folder ready to read. I do not want 30, 50 or 70 bookmarks stacked up. Without quitting Firebox I want to trash the current folder fo bookmarks before opening the next
