Changing your Firefox Account password clears your account2019-06-09T02:05:04-07:00jscher2000https://support.mozilla.org/ta/questions/1261286#answer-1228730
Thank you for the additional information.

Changing your Firefox Account password clears your account data. There should be a warning about that when you select that feature. It is too late to get that data back after you cleared it.

What was repaired on your system? Did they leave data in place, or give you a backup of your data? Try checking Firefox's data folder by pasting this shortcut into the Windows 10 search box (on the Taskbar) and press Enter to open a new File Explorer window into that folder:

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

How many folders do you have here?

I signed up in order to save my bookmarks on Firefox so when I log into it on any computer everything would be there. Well, it looks like Firefox has changed some stuff. When I got my computer back from repair, the shortcut to Firefox wouldn't work. I had to install it. And I had forgotten the password. WITH ANY OTHER THING ONLINE, they send you and email, or a text or have you answer a security question to get into your account with a new password. Well apparently not Firefox. They did send me an email but I don't remember the process. All I know is when I got a new password all my bookmarks were gone. Now if you can't look at my account history and just restore it to what it was 2 months ago, then please find someone who can.

What password did you change?

Could you check whether your Firefox still has automatic bookmark backups available to restore. This article will guide you to the Restore menu: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

If your Firefox is unrecognizable -- no bookmarks, no history, no add-ons, no personalization -- there is something else to check.

First, if you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. Each will show links to a pair of folders; please ignore those for now. Please do not delete anything here -- don't use any Remove buttons.

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have another profile named default or default-longnumber listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress so far, or do we need to keep looking for your data in some other places?
