Does Firefox on borrowed computer belong to me or to man who gave computer to me - was asked to open new account when it updated - already had one.
My husband set up our Firefox account before he died and I can't find his information. The computer given to me had Firefox on it so I thought it was mine. Is it the previous owner's? Do I have to set up another account in my own name? If I don't set up another account, now that I have updated, when I leave this screen will I be able to get back into my email and bookmarks? I, really, don't know anything about computers but want to stick with Firefox because my husband was wildly enthusiastic about it and it has never given me any problems. Whenever it asks me to update, I do, and it seems to be working - but I am afraid that opening a new account means that I will lose all my bookmarks. Don't know what is safe to do. When I can afford it, I need to buy another computer to replace my hacked one. (My computer, before that, had Firefox on it but developed an electrical short.) I don't even know if the things I have on this computer will transfer to the new one - or if I will need to open another account there. Is Firefox tied to this machine, or to my email, or to something else? I hear that some hardware or Windows will not support it. This computer is old. If it keeps offering me updates, does that mean that Firefox is supported? Sorry to have so many questions at once, but I am lost, here.

The computer you used to post here is running Windows 7, which is still supported; and it has a Beta version of Firefox which gets an update a couple time a week, or even more often - that is why you get so many "update needed" messages from Firefox.
You don't "need" a Firefox Account. A Firefox Account is optional feature, and is intended to be used to synchronize Firefox data across multiple devices. It is not intended to "backup" Firefox data.
As far as your other questions, I suggest you get help locally; like the local Senior Center, local library, a high-school, college, or even primary grade school in your area. And if you have a laptop computer 'they' could help you on your own computer.

Firefox 66.0 has been released last Tuesday, so you likely do not have a Firefox beta version, but you have the current Firefox release.
Best is to create your own Firefox account if you intend to keep using Sync. You probably do not know the password of this Firefox account or have access to the email account if you would have to confirm. Sync is optional and normally only used to sync data to other devices that are connected to the same Sync account. If you only have one computer then you do not really need Sync because Sync isn't meant to be used as a backup.
Wow! You guys are great. I never expected such a prompt or understandable explanation. It may be embarresing to ask the elementary school across the street for help but that makes a lot of sense. Tony and I each had computers so maybe that was why he used Sync - if he did sign up for that. Thanks.
