Disable Firefox browser update notification

A very simple question. I have searched on and off for the past couple weeks or so, whenever I get some time at work to waste on this. I have already gone through the pain of having to search online for how to disable auto-updates, since Firefox seems to be going in the opposite direction of intuition (the very reason I switched to it years ago), and I have found the about:config -- app.update.service.enabled = false.... also app.update.silent = false..... also app.update.auto = false.

What does a guy gotta do, short of leaving Firefox, which I don't hope to do, to just.... use.... a browser without any updates until *I* want to update it?

If this is not possible, this will be the end of Firefox for me (as well as all the boasting of it that I used to do).

Thanks, -justwannabrowseinternetonmyterms

Can't seem to upload a screenshot. Likely there will be two duplicate images (awesomeness).

You are using Firefox 63.0, the only update you should need is to 63.0.3, which has some important stability improvements. You should keep your browser up to date anyway, so I'd suggest just updating ASAP

So far, that is the answer I expected. Please limit "answers" relevant to the question.

Unfortunately, being on the Official Mozilla Firefox support forum, we won't be telling you to use an out of date browser. Updating is the only solution to your problem.

Is there a reason you don't want to update?

There is also app.update.doorhanger

Thanks @cor-el, that seemed to work, for now. I looked into it and found a post that mentioned "you will still get a notification, but not as frequent" (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3037988). I feel as though in my case Firefox's days are numbered. Time will tell. Thanks again. Now off to another vendor to find out how to disable yet another thing for another reason. Seems all I do is find out how to disable stuff vendors shove in user's faces. Well, everything *except* my OS (Ubuntu 18.04), which allows me to do what I want when I want; such a breath of fresh air! If I get the notification, I'll come back and let you know.... which will also be the "time of death" for this browser.

1984 George Orwell, that's why, Tyler. Yeah, just keep upgrading... keep agreeing, they said :|

NO FREEDOM OF CHOICE NO FREEDOM OF CHOICE is the 100% deal-breaker here, the biggest problem of all. Today, now it is even worse. No longer do I get the small pop-up in the top-right, but now it's a full dialog box right in my face. R.I.P. FIREFOX.

The Firefox 63.0.3 release contains important fixes, as shown in the release notes, https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/63.0.3/releasenotes/

You need to keep all software up to date, but browser's especially so

Yessssss, of course, Tyler. You forgot to mention Brought to you by Carl's Jr.. You might get a bonus for saying that. Either way you got what you wanted, your "Contributor" points. Feel free to muster up this thread however you want. Deleting the email I used to sign up with on this forum and not looking back.
