Print options are very limited, unable to save file as PDF like Chrome allows. Almost a deal breaker.

No browser is perfect, so I decided to give Firefox a chance. Really need the printing options Chrome has, to just right click anything, or even to select any area, and get the option to print it or to save as a PDF. It is almost a deal breaker for me. Also, I found some possible solutions in your blog, but there are in French! and can't find the translator!!!

Hi chromist, generally speaking, you have four options:

(1) Print to a PDF printer driver (usually free)

A PDF printer driver captures printouts from any application on your system and converts them to PDF. For example, you may have heard of CutePDF Writer, PDFCreator, or PrimoPDF. Newer versions of Windows come with a PDF printer driver supplied by Microsoft.

Where "Print Selection" works, which oddly isn't everywhere, you can generate a PDF of the selection.

This is the simplest approach, and preserves your privacy because all conversion is done locally.

(2) Use an Add-on that hooks into Firefox's hidden built-in PDF conversion (free)

My favorite example is no longer available, but there may be others.

(3) Use an Add-on that sends the page URL or the entire page contents to a web-based service (free)

These have obvious privacy implications. I don't recommend any of them.

(4) Use an add-on that does a local conversion through a companion program (may not be free)

The Adobe Acrobat Create PDF extension (supplied with Acrobat Standard/Pro) is the most obvious example, but there may be others.

By the way, you can use an add-on like the following to integrate Print and Print Preview into the right-click context menu:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/print-print-preview-context/

I suggested to the author to add Save as PDF:
