I downloaded the newest version of Firefox and it simply crashes before it opens.

This is the Crash ID:

Hi ShahidIbrahim, sorry to hear about this problem and thank you for the link.

The crashing thread (front page of the report) shows fbplugin which may be the signature of an old photo uploader plugin. The thing that's odd is, in Firefox 52 and later, only the Flash plugin should run in Firefox. So why is this plugin getting involved?!

Can you check whether you can find and remove "Facebook Plug-in" from your system? Its file name might be fbplugin_1_0_1.plugin and it could be in a hidden folder associated with Firefox, or in a Facebook folder somewhere.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Sir,

Hats off to you. I found that plugin immediately and got rid of it just as fast. I would have never figured this out without your help. Very excited to be checking out the updated browser version. You literally saved me what would have probably been days of troubleshooting and frustration.

Thanks! :)

I'm glad you found it. Hopefully this thread will help any other people who still have that old plugin around.
