I had the filter option on the right click one time but after update it is gone. I used it to get rid of unwanted email site before I opened the mail. Sure was nice that way.

You might be referring to the add-on "quickFilters".

Thunderbird menu: Tools: Add-ons Type "quickFilters" into the search box at the top.
