What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Thanks for replying.

The reason this happened was on 12-1-16 I was looking for a holiday browser add-on in Mozilla. I couldn't find them for some reason and chose to download the Personas Interactive with the Christmas Theme. I didn't think that it worked. The run box didn't come up and I couldn't locate it. When I closed out my computer 12-2-16 in the early morning and didn't return until early 12-3-16 the Avast warning about it being a bad add-on stating it would remove it and restore your browser to it's original setting was showing in my PC screen. This corrected my problem after doing what it requested.

What I wonder about is why did Avast wait two days before warning me of this situation. Does anyone know why? I would appreciate a reply.

I hope that this may be something that will be put under Mozilla support information for people to realize that this can happen, because my Spectrum support didn't even ask me if I had downloaded something which could completely close out my Firefox.

What I wonder about is why did Avast wait two days before warning me of this situation. Does anyone know why?

Example: Let's say the addon got released, then it was not known to Avast as a bad tool. So days later Avast had complaints of users that this program-addon gave users trouble, or they get error logs in from users where this tool comes up in the error log as problem causer. So then Avast will see that tool-addon as a danger. I bet that is why it took some days for Avast to get the problem :) That is why it is not smart to always use the newest of the new things. Some things have bugs and those bugs come in action when a new tool gets released ;)

I called for more help.
