I have been unable to clear the cache for several months now - I click on 'clear cache' in Preferences, & it just reduces by 1MB. I've read this thread which has the same problem - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1114674 - but the solution here is just to click 'clear cache' twice - this does not work for me; I've clicked it twice, 3 times, 4 times - it still will not clear. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this bug? Firefox is constantly freezing and working slowly & I think the full cache may be part of this. Thanks

Location of the cache files; Windows: *C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\ Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/ Linux: ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/

Close Firefox. Open your file browser to the above, and remove the folder.

Thanks @FredMcD, but I got as far as Firefox/Profiles - but when I click on Profiles there is nothing there - it seems to be empty? Do you mean I should remove the entire 'Profiles' folder? Thanks

You may have more than one Profile.

Thanks - but sorry, I don't know where to look for the other profiles...? Also, does this mean I have to go into the library every time I want to clear the cache? What is the problem with the usual way of doing it via Preferences; is this issue some kind of bug? If so what are the Firefox people doing; are they going to fix it? Thanks for your help with this.

Open your file browser to the folder shown above. In the search box, enter cache2 and remove everything listed.
