HP Laptop, windows 10. 5 days ago lost ALL bookmarks. Did a restore, didn't get them back. No big deal. 2 days ago I started being unable to open files in DOWNLOAD folder on desktop. Just says NOT RESPONDING. The files are movies I've downloaded, I've never had this problem before. Laptop less than a year old, warranty doesn't cover software problems!

Do you know how the bookmarks were lost? Did you lose anything else? Settings, history . . . . .

Restore Bookmark Backups

To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Restore. From the list, pick the file you want and click it.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

Tried the restore bookmarks, folder is empty. No, didn't lose anything else. I use the Classic Shell instead of Win 10, and when I have to close the DOWNLOADS folder it flickers back to the Win 10 symbol, nothing shows on my task bar, then in a few minutes it flicks back to Classic Shell. Very odd!

My main concern is not being able to open and play ANYTHING in DOWNLOADS folder. All I have in there are my movies and can't open any of them.

And now it's ANY movie I download, won't open at all!!!!
