This has been going on for longer than I should have let it. For the record, I have tried going into Safe Mode but it didn't fix the issue. The crashes that I receive are random. I can be watching a video or I can just be reading something on a forum, regardless the browser crashes. I had a Java Applet plugin that was out of date so I also tried disabling that but I still had the crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated, here are a couple of my crash reports.

Updating the plugin didn't help, however I started my computer up in safe mode and did some web browsing for a few hours and there wasn't a single crash, so I'm assuming the problem went away. However safe mode is incredibly slow so I couldn't do a whole lot.

So what's next? What do you think might be the possible cause? Thanks.

That means one of the other programs on your system is causing the issue.

I see, so what do you suggest doing to find out which program may be causing an issue?

I am on Windows. You should get advice from another Mac user. You can start with your protection programs. As a test, disable them.

Just had another crash while trying to type a response. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/27d7ea6b-67bc-421c-b5a2-c36e92160425

I'm just not sure what the issue is. I tried disabling a couple other plugins that I never use but it still happens. The only plugins I have up now are Shockwave Flash 21.0, OpenH264 Video Codec from Cisco Systems, and Java Applet Plug-in. They're all up to date when I checked yesterday.

Should I try refreshing Firefox? Doing that only gets rid of extensions and themes right, nothing else?

Sorry, wasn't trying to make it seem like I didn't understand you, was just mentioning other things I had tried.

Anyway I ran disk utility on my hard drive to try and fix the problem and it still crashed. Then I decided to just refresh Firefox and for some reason while it still crashes in the past 24 hours it's only crashed twice. Not really sure why it crashed less but regardless it still didn't fix the issue.

I'm not really sure what other programs I should try checking to see if there's an issue. I don't have this problem with any other browser, it's just Firefox.

Post the latest crash reports.

Version 8 Update 91 Release date April 19, 2016 http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

According to the link my Java was up to date. I have the most recent version. I just had two more crashes as well so it looks like they're most likely back to being pretty frequent again. Maybe there's something else with my Java that's wrong?

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/569eece5-b618-481d-85de-38f372160427 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/ca987c00-3feb-46a6-8b73-c38a52160428

Those reports are the same as the last two. I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Mozilla Firefox v45.0.2 x32-bit runs perfectly, disregard if you have disabled/enabled Oracle Java JRE and/or similar, disregard Extensions/Plugins installed here in Mozillla Firefox...

But, Mozilla Firefox v46.0, especially the 32-bit iteration, as soon it is installed, will give you a headache with numerous crashes. :(

You will try to disable Mozilla Firefox Extensions all here, enable it again one by one, and few of this Extensions once again, will again trigger the crash of Mozilla Firefox just immediately, the second it is enabled. So, you will think that numerous Extensions are here a problemo in all this major new Mozilla Firefox version...

But, the culprit problemo can be here, the older SurfRight HitmanPro.Alert version on you Computer.

So, if you have an older version of this cool lightweight software (especially for cryptoransomware prevention and rare Exploit mitigation protection services on Win OS), update it to its officially newest available version: HitmanPro.Alert 3.1.9 Build 368 (release on: 27th April 2016).

However, if you must stay on its older version for some reason, just disable Exploit mitigation service for your Mozilla Firefox web browser in generally, but, specifically and probably, the "Enforce DEP" here, is the most probable cause, why Mozilla Firefox v46.0, and especially its 32-bit iterations, keeps crashing...  ;)

At last, I do not know, is this link is allow, or not here, but, the more useful details about this particular problem, can be found here:

https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/hitmanpro-alert-support-and-discussion-thread.324841/page-380

P.S. Also, maybe useful, additional comment from the respectful developer of the HitmanPro.Alert: "FF 46 has a new scripting engine which performs MASSIVE amount of allocations of executable heap memory. We ported back an improvement from version 3.5 (still in private beta) into 3.1 to solve the slowdown in FF 46."

I don't have HitmanPro on my computer. I don't know if that's a windows specific program or not but I'm on a Mac and I don't see any program with that name on here. Also my crashes started way before Firefox V46 or even V45.

Thank you for reminding me that you have a Mac. ;)

I put this Note in any case here, because, there is a numerous crashings for FF v46.0 in general, so, people will try to find any useful information why... Well, HitmanAlert.Pro is one of the most sure reason all here, but for MS Windows OSs.  ;)

Considering your problemo, I talk with my friend today, who is also have a Mac, like you are. He today test the system, but his FF 46.0 is just fine.

If you have a Java and people here already suspected for it..., perhaps you can also, like I am on Windows OS, go to Java Applet -> Configure Java: Security -> and remove the tickmark from "Enable Java content in the browser". - This means that Java will be completely OFF in all of your's Web browsers, till you again, back engage this option, and restart your web browsers if there were open in the middle, than Java will be ON again.

At least on that way, you will know 100%, and completely eliminate Java all here, that this is your problemo, or not.

In any case, Java is very well known high severity security hole (as Adobe Flash also), so, it is advisable, that Java is OFF like I type the procedure, until and only when you really, really need it...  ;)

And now, go further..., do you have any Security software installed, because nowadays nothing is protected anymore, even a Mac...? - Maybe this software interfere here...

In addition, do you have any 3rd party software on your Mac, that is tell to be run every-time, when Mozilla Firefox is running also?

I removed the check mark in the Java settings but unfortunately Firefox is still crashing.

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c48eba33-4310-4d82-a2ed-80a462160429 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/336c030b-3ee9-4818-8fd2-a2edb2160429

I don't have any security software installed other than Malwarebytes which was made by someone in the apple support forum I believe. You have to boot that up though and I rarely ever do. Other than that I just have Firewall which is disabled at the moment. I don't have any 3rd party software that I run either.

So any other suggestions? Unfortunately nothing has worked so far.

It's been about two weeks since I've gotten a response. I'm not really sure where else to go if nobody here can help me with this.

Hy BBall33;

I was waiting few of my asking of my friends which have also a Mac. Unfortunately, or luckily, they do not have any crashing situation of FF 46.0 at all, so, that will complete of my humble investigation of four people, that I know that have a Mac, and this is it.

If there is a Windows OS on your side, I will most surely tell you now, to scan computer from Spyware and Adware also, since this nasty little shits, can really mess up computer and be guilty on numerous crashing and instabilities, including those via web browser side...

In any case I try to help you as I know by now, an again, my help and knowledge is limited, since I do not have a Mac at all.

I'll really hope that someone else will pop up in here and to be more help and assist on you!

Good luck and best regards!
