Why does my recent download of Firefox for Windows 10 does not address cookies in the privacy section?

Just bought a new desktop (Dell Inspiron 3650). When comparing Firefox on my laptop (both have Windows 10) there is a difference in the options sections. Both have the same version - 45.0.2 (x86 en-US). On laptop version, I have an option to accept cookies from sites, while my version on my desktop does contain anything about cookies.

In addtion, something is preventing me from downloading video from Dancing with the Stars on the desktop, while the same Fireox is working correctly. Not sure if this has anything with cookies. FYI everything works fine on Explorer on the desktop.

Any help would be appreciated. PS Virus protection is Bitedefend on both computers.

Thanks,

Tom

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

Seeing "(Never) Remember History" means that all history and cookie settings are set to the default value (all cookies are enabled and kept until they expire). "Use custom settings for history" allows to access the current history and cookie settings for inspection and modification. Selecting "Use custom settings for history" doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings. Firefox will keep showing "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.

If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: Remember History".

  • "Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.

"Use custom settings for history" stays only selected as long as one of the History or Cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes from the default setting have been made.
