Right click-open in new tab does not work after update this AM.
Upon opening Firefox this am, i got the Windows message "Do you want to allow this program to make changes" (approximately). I clicked on yes, and Ffox opened in a few seconds. Now, when I right click and try to open a link in a new tab, it does nothing. Open in a new window does not work either. What changed?

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...
Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
The problem still exists in safe mode.
could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

thanks, nothing particular is standing out there unfortunately. do you get the same issue when you uninstall the regular firefox version and then download and use the 64bit version for windows instead? - you can download that from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Didn't know I only had the 32 bit version. I'll try that.
"Right click-open in new tab does not work after update this AM."
Another thread over here - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1113452#answer-853569 - where it looks like the context-menu item for Open Link in a New Tab is broken for that user. Don't know what the rest of that thread is about, but using {Ctrl+click} brought some relief to that user.
Looks like an issue with Firefox 45 - I can't check it out myself as I primarily use ESR 38 and may not update my Firefox 44.0.2 version for a few days.
Well, I uninstalled, downloaded 64 bit, installed, and the problem persists. I get the same right click menu as mentioned on the other thread. I think I'm going to so a system restore to a few days ago until this is fixed.
BTW right click on my bookmarks toolbar does work. (Just to throw a wrench into the works)
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing the problem by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via *"3-bar" menu button > Exit (Power button)
- Windows: File > Exit
- Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox
- Linux: File > Quit
