Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; never remember history).
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
- Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Hi Fred, thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I do not have any such software on my machine.
please feel free to suggest another possible solution

Yes that worked I UNchecked private browsing mode, Firefox restarted with a check in the "remember logins" box. I than went to site, logged in. It saved my password. I than went back and RE-check Private browsing/ Do Not remember history, because I do not want firefox to remember.
I verified after all was done, that site is stored and does remember my user/pass Info
Thank you for a wonderful solution
Firefox doesn't offer to store new passwords when you are in PB mode, but you can use the Password Manager to fill stored names and passwords.
