In FF 42.0, everytime I go to close the browser it asks me You are about to close XX tabs. Are you sure you want to continue?" even though in my options i have "restore tabs from previous session" selected. Nothing has changed (at least that I have purposely changed), it just started happening a few days ago.

I want to make it so that my previous tabs open everytime i close and reopen firefox...any ideas?

Did you change any warn prefs directly on the about:config page?

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

The Tab warn items in "Options/Preferences > General or Tabs" are hidden when the related prefs have the default value. They only show when you toggle the prefs on the about:config page. Note that this may require to close and restart Firefox.

  • "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" (browser.tabs.warnOnClose)
  • "Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox" (browser.tabs.warnOnOpen)

sorry, i guess i should have actually asked a question in my original post, i want to have FF restore any tabs i had open whenever i close and reopen the browser. right now it isn't doing that even though in the preferences i have that option selected...any ideas?

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History because that prevails and Firefox won't reopen current tabs
  • Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
  • Clearing Cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.

Also make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never remember history).

so i went into the settings and verified that all my settings were set like you listed. I didn't have to change anything but next time i went to close firefox, it didn't prompt me with the "sure you want to close XX tabs?" and then when i reopened it, it brought back all my tabs from before - so technically, it was "fixed." However i just tried to close it again, and its doing exactly what it was initially.
