the default for the search engine at first is Yahoo.com , so i changed to google (dot) com in option as a default search engine. i tried search something in search bar but the default is still Yahoo.com . so that, i back to the option, and removed the yahoo (dot) com. tried search again, still yahoo as the default even i've removed and the default search was google icon.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove yahoo Anything. Now do the same in the computers Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

After the problem is fixed, Bookmark and use this; Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.

Same issue here.

When I go to addons and Extensions it says "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed"

I only have Yahoo and Google search engines installed, default is Google, but when Firefox does an automatic search it brings up http://webhelper.centurylink.com

Hi kinghq1, Sorry you are having problems

It sounds like you have a browser hijacker. Please try scanning with all the tools listed in this article

Please take care if looking on the Internet for solutions, some either do not work, add more unwanted programs, &/or provide costly offers of fixes.

If the standard methods do not work or you need further advice

  1. Please start your own question thread using /questions/new/desktop
  2. Please try your best to follow the prompts and add troubleshooting information.
  3. Explain what you have tried to do, and the results.
  4. Post back in this thread /questions/1090064 just to confirm that you have started your own question, and we will try to answer it.
