I freshly installed Windows 10 and I can't install Firefox inside "ProgramFiles (x86)" I tried running as admin, changing admin privileges but nothing worked, then I tried to install it inside "C:\Users\*username*" and that worked. Any ideas why this might happen?

So far, yours is the first post I've seen about an attempted new install vs. an upgrade.

Firefox 40, due out in less than two weeks, will have a number of compatibility fixes for Windows 10 and might address this issue.

If you want to try installing Firefox 40, which is in beta test, you can get it from this page (scroll down to your preferred language):

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/beta/all/

Note: I recommend the 32-bit build of Firefox. The 64-bit test version of Firefox doesn't support very many plugins and may have more bugs.

Can you install Firefox 40 (beta) normally?

Hello thanks for reporting this issue to Mozilla can I ask if you have followed all of the steps on the following How to download and install Firefox on Windows

Yes, I've done that, then during the install using the installer that downloads necessary files I got "Your download was interrupted" (this was after the download has finished and at the end of installation process). Then I downloaded the "offline" installer, I started that, it finished but Firefox didn't work, so I looked inside the "Program Files (x86)" folder and there was "Mozilla\Firefox" folder, but there were no executables inside it. So I tried running as administrator, giving administrator group Full control over "Program Files (x86)" folder and that didn't work. So I changed the installation folder and then the installation finally finished successfully

Great, thank you for confirming that.

When the release version of Firefox 40 becomes available (estimated August 11th), I suggest installing that one because beta will auto-update to Firefox 41 shortly thereafter and unless you like testing software, that might be a little more adventure than you're looking for.

That will be Firefox 41.0 where only the Flash player plugin is white listed for Win64 builds.
