I use a VPN. How do I configure a proxy for incoming/outgoing mail?

Dear Mozilla,

At the moment there is no Internet connectivity between my Thunderbird application and the outside world. I want to move my cloud based communication into Thunderbird. I have the appropriate incoming and outgoing settings for the ports.

I'm wondering if it's a Firewall issue, because I can' even get any of the Add-ons to respond. I'm using Thunderbird because of the add-ons to help work with PGP encryption.

Then I noticed there was the issue of proxies delivering access to the Internet. I have a VPN. How should I configure this application so that it will accept connections from my Internet provider with a VPN?

Can you help me figure this out? I have attached a screenshot here.

Thanks for any of your good help with this.

Sincerely,

Someone-who-paid-the-Enigma-dev

There is no screenshot.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by using a proxy. In any case, you do need Internet access in the first place, either direct, or via a VPN. To get that working is ways beyond the scope of this forum. Once you have Internet access people here can help to get you going with your server setup. What you certainly don't want is to accept connections from the Internet to your computer. It's the other way round.

It's possible I'm not stating the problem clearly enough.

Thunderbird isn't connecting to my Internet. I'm not quite sure how to configure the ports so they will connect successfully. I suspect the connectivity suspension might have something to do with my VPN, but I'm not sure.

The real problem is I can't get my Thunderbird application to connect to the Internet.

Use 'No proxy' in proxy settings.
