How to get Freemake to plug into Firefox

Hi,

I used to have this on my system until a recent problem required a new XP install. Now it just won't work, despite the Firefox and Freemake versions being the same.

The thread at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/975842 appears to solve this problem, but there is missing information between the last two notes from the question owner. The first indicates there is still a problem, the second says it's fixed.

Maybe the problem was solved by suggestions in an e-mail, not shown here.

What was the magic ingredient, if known?

BTW, I'm still on V25 because I dislike the later version's layout and would prefer to stay there, but I'd rather fix the problem.

In that thread the OP posted it was fixed, but unfortunately he didn't specifically mention what the fix was - he "took" more than he "gave" in return. And that was in Nov 2013 when Firefox 25 was current and supported by Mozilla.

" I just want to know why it won't on my rebuilt system." Did you install an old copy of Freemake - like one that you saved back when Firefox 25 was the current version?

A new current download of Freemake may not support Firefox 25 - which is why I suggested http://support.freemake.com/home for help with "historical aspects" of their software.

Firefox 25 is from the fall of 2013 and isn't supported any longer. Your choice to use old versions like that, but don't expect any support for an ancient version like that.

Freemake support is over here, why don't you ask them if Firefox 25 is compatible with or supported by their software? http://support.freemake.com/home

I always have two systems, one for gaming and general use, the other for back-up.

My back-up system has Version 25 of Firefox complete with Freemake plugged into it, so I don't need to ask anyone if the combination works, I just want to know why it won't on my rebuilt system.

As I said in the original query, somehow this was resolved in the quoted thread.

Yep. I copied it across from my back-up system.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to mark this closed even though it's not solved.

I'll have another try with Freemake support and if I can fix it I'll come back with the answer.
