Mail filters have stopped working, and I have no idea why.

When I download messages, I get an alert: "The messages could not be filtered to "[name]" because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system. then try again.

Disk space is no problem, and I've been using these filters for years, and I am the only user (and thus administrator).

I am completely flummoxed. What should I do?
