My inbox just went empty. From 4,000+ to zilch. Other folders are OK.

I have made no changes to anything on my computer (XP, I know, right!). I reviewed the various forums. I use AVG anti-virus and their quarantine is empty. I tried removing inbox.msf. I re-started Windows. I compacted TB. Nothing works. When I open Explorer and look in my Profile folders, the inbox folder size is about 2 MBs when it should be 2+ GBs. Thanks for any help
