I was organizing my bookmarks and somehow moved the Bookmarks menu folder into the recipe folder. When I try to move it or copy it, the spinning Mac wheel starts. I can't tell if the spinning will go on forever so I wait awhile then I force quit and start over. How can I get the Bookmarks menu folder out to its place.

Immediately backup your Firefox profile. That is not an absolutely essential step but does help preserve as much information as possible. Bookmarks recovery attempts may otherwise overwrite something you later need.

If this was something that happened very recently, and especially if a you have not added or removed bookmarks since then go into the bookmarks library and restore a recent version of your bookmarks. Firefox tries to create and save these backups automatically for such situations.

May not apply but do you use Firefox Sync ? Do you Sync bookmarks ? If so you should not become over reliant on Sync, and you should manually backup bookmarks say every couple of weeks. Sync will be likely to occasionally duplicate or corrupt your bookmarks listings.

Hi, Actually both of these replies helped. I am embarrassed to say that I just jumped into Firefox several months ago--not using any of the let's get started help. So when I needed to sort bookmarks I just leaped in again. All that you both showed me helped me return to read the directions. In the end I made a copy of my bookmarks then went in and took the plunge and deleted the folder that was inside my recipe folder. And when I did the rest of the bookmarks were still intact.

Extremely not technologically yours with thanks, Caroly
