Firefox install fails on XP Pro 64 bit.
Fresh install of Win xp pro 64 bit on brand new Dell workstation. 12 GB RAM. SP2.
Go to firefox.com, download installer. Run installer. Installer starts, starts to extract files, then closes. No error messages. Nothing in application, system, or security logs. Latest service pack installed (XP Pro 64 bit does not have a SP3), and ll current security updates. I have installed winzip, winrar, acrobat, microsoft office, java, symantec endpoint protection, groupwise, winscp, quicktime, nero, silverlight, google talk, without issues.

Hello,
download issues *could* be caused by Antivirus software. Can you please try turning off Symantec real time protection and retry to download Firefox?

Thanks for your reply Tobbi.
However, I am not having trouble downloading the installer. I have downloaded the installer, and additionally I have used the installer to install Firefox on another PC, so I am certain it was not corrupted.
For the record, I also disabled antivirus while running the installer. Same results.
