Unable to add attachments in Microsoft Web App using Firefox

When I click on the paperclip icon to add attachments the pop-up window briefly appears then disappears. I am able to use this feature in Internet Explorer fine, but I prefer Firefox to IE.

My system runs Windows 7. I am using Firefox 49.0.2. The pop-up blocker is disabled. I have tried temporarily disabling Microsoft security Essentials with no change.

Please help!
