Firefox slow after installing AMD proprietary drivers (fglrx).

After I installed AMD proprietary drivers, fglrx Firefox has been very slow. Scrolling a page with only texts isn't even smooth. Firefox responds very slowly. I disabled hardware acceleration and webgl, but I am still not getting any performance improvements. I am using hybrid graphics AMD-Intel on my Ubuntu 14.04 distro. Chrome and Opera run very smoothly, so I can say that the problem is not with the driver, it's definitely with Firefox. Please help me, because I'd hate going back to Chrome.
