The problem with memory usage of Firefox (version 44.0, but the same problem was observed in earlier versions): after closing the tabs the memory is not being released in full. (PS the computer has 1 GB of RAM and have WinXP (SP3), so this problem is very noticeable! But even on a more powerful computer with 4 GB and Windows 8 on Board snubs of Firefox also appears, however, after opening about 500 150, tabs). (I can't upload screenshots, so I describe them)

Clipboard01.jpg. Loaded XP clean. – 289 MB of memory is busy Clipboard02.jpg. Launching Firefox (without tab) – 556 MB Clipboard03.jpg. Opened news Yandex (need to take from somewhere links, on opening which the problem occurs with freeing memory!) 519 MB Clipboard04.jpg. Open just over 40 tabs (news), check that all loaded (i.e. go through each tab to start loading pages): 889 MB Clipboard05.jpg. Reserve one of the news tab 830 MB Clipboard06.jpg. Open the following 50 tabs... 939 MB Clipboard07.jpg. ... and after they all loaded, close all but the first... 809 MB Clipboard08.jpg. And now close the Firefox - 286 MB Clipboard09.jpg. Run Firefox, open two tabs that were opened during termination of the Firefox. 547 MB

819 – 547 MB = 272 MB. The volume of garbage is not unloaded from memory after closing 100 tabs (1 tab = about 3 MB). Now I understand why when I scan 300 pages (three hundred, Carl! it isn't so much!), the Firefox hangs on (in the sense of RAM my computer over... on the three hundredth page is loaded, that it became impossible to switch quickly, for example, in the word – just because the computer is already built and occupied 500 MB swap file!

the actual configuration of the computer on which all this was done: Genuine Intel CPU, 2160@1.80GHz 1GB DIMM2
