Yesterday (11-27-15) as I was browsing the internet I found myself on a web page that indicated it belonged to Firefox (Mozilla). In this web page it described that my browser had problems and was obsolete or something to this effect. Also popping up was a request to install a "fix" for my problem. I didn't click to install and immediately closed my browser and ran my CC Cleaner and then resumed my browsing.

I am wondering if this is indeed an attempt to gain use of my browser or was this something actually legit from Mozilla.

I'd appreciate someone looking into this and letting me know if something like this is going around. If I ever encounter this page again I'll make a print screen of it as proof. I still will NEVER download something I don't recognize. I may be a 73 year old senior citizen but I do believe I am not yet turned stupid!

I experienced a similar issue with "update video player" By mistake I read it as update from Micrososft for media player. I got infected with an adware-software, every link was replaced by an advertising pop up window. In my humble opinion you were right to stop any activity, if you were not sure.

To make a screeshot is a good idea indeed

May I give you an advice? Also it will help, if you add the current version of your FF browser, lastest version as of today is V42.

Which page did you visit, when this occured? Or was it just after opening FF? Especially pages wich contain pictures and videos only may be risky...

Do you run adblocker add-ons? Which ones? Do you run anti-virus software, which performs online checks(when downloading web pages, files, pictures, videos, programs before the are displayed/executed)?

Since malware exists, which is installed already when opening an infected page only, I recommend to run a complete virus check; also a bot check such as Spybot search&destroy.

Especially this tool helped me in finding and finally getting rid of my adware problem.

Good luck!
