That makes many web pages difficult or impossible to use.

Could this be suggested as an improvement for Firefox?

Thanks

You can choose whether Firefox adapts to High Contrast themes or ignores them. Right now, it's all-or-nothing without the ability to, for example, override foreground/background colors but allow background images.

To make the switch, you can use the Content panel of the Options page:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content

Click the "Colors" button and you will see a selector with three choices:

Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above:

  • Always
  • Only with High Contrast themes (default)
  • Never

Try the third setting to allow page colors and background images.

(1) Maybe there is an add-on that splits the difference? I haven't searched for one myself. YOu could try a search here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

You can look at the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.

...but it defeats the purpose of high contrast.

I think this is worth improving in future versions, as this inconvenience renders the high contrast abilities unusable in practice.

Thanks so much for your response

I have just found one that rocks. It provides 5 different strategies to modify the look of the web page: "Black background and white text" https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/black-background-white-text/?src=api

Thank you!
