cannot open, keeps crashing

so all of a sudden my firefox won't open at all. It keeps crashing giving me the crash report and i tried everything. Crashes in safe mode, re-installed and same thing. I scanned for virus and there is none. Don't know what else could be the problem since it was working fine last night and before i went to bed. I'm running windows 7 64bit

Re: cannot open, keeps crashing

So you have Malware on your PC, the specific file is tjrgbtge.dll. Try running scans with a few different malware removal tools, the most reliable are malwarebytes and Microsoft Scanner. www.malwarebytes.org and Firefox 18 crashes on startup due to malware - how to fix

Ok, then what you should do is search your computer for the offending .dll, and delete it. It's most likely hidden, so view hidden files and folders. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Show-hidden-files

Re: cannot open, keeps crashing

i didn't find the file. Also ran a combofix which is a pretty powerful malware and virus remover. Problem still exists with the firefox.

Click start, then type in msconfig, then click statup. Look for tjrgbtge.dll, then uncheck it. Restart your PC.

Re: cannot open, keeps crashing

thanks tyler. Got rid of it and firefox is now working. I don't know how I got that tjrgbtge.dll file overnight.

Re: cannot open, keeps crashing

You can search the Windows registry (Ctrl+F) for references to the tjrgbtge.dll file and export and remove involved keys to avoid startup issues with missing files or alternatively use a registry cleaner like CCleaner. If you are not comfortable with editing the registry then it is best to skip this step.
