Hi alegemini,

You should take a look at our Search and Home page troubleshooting section. There is a ton of useful information in there and some stuff specifically for Babylon.

Hopefully this helps!

Any search toolbar and changes to search engines can take place by downloading and installing software; usually "free" software from the internet. Babylon can be downloaded and installed by itself or as a "ride-along" when installing/updating some software from the internet. Always look for an opportunity during the installation to un-check boxes that will install "ride-along" items that you do not want. Firefox installation does not include such "ride-along" items.

  1. Remove Babylon Toolbar (if you have it installed). The most complete removal is to remove it from your system using (Windows) Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs): http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_toolbars#Uninstalling_via_Windows_Control_Panel
  2. Reset your home page (if the Babylon search page is displayed when starting Firefox): http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
    • You can reset to the default by clicking "Restore to default" on Options > General > Startup > Home page. Be sure to set "When Firefox starts" to "Show my home page" on that same panel.
  3. Reset your Location Bar search engine (if typing a few words in the URL/Location Bar takes you to Babylon search):
  4. If Babylon is shown in your Search Bar and you want to remove it:

@#!&mozillandmicrosoft:

I received the full text of your reply. I am happy to see that a moderator removed your profanity-laden reply.

As for your comment "why don't u try infecting yourself first before pretending to have the answers?"',

  1. the solution has worked for other users on this forum,
  2. I am careful in what I download and install and do not go about madly downloading trash from the internet. If users would be more careful about what they download and install on their systems and install only what they have seriously considered and know that they will use regularly, then users would experience fewer problems.

My comments concerning the link to superuser.com posted by abhic:

  • the suggestions may not fully remove Babylon from your system
  • disabling the Add-on does not remove the problem from your system, it is still there, just disabled
  • resetting your preferences in Firefox, resets all Firefox preferences to their defaults including changes that the user purposely made and wanted to make, not just those involving Babylon
  • changes to the Windows registry should only be performed by knowledgeable users as making a mistake in editing the registry can disable your entire Windows system, which can make your system non-bootable and you can loose all of your data
  • uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox is not necessary to remove Babylon.

I had this problem I found it had attached its self to Google chrome as well and windows explorer .I found the only way to get rid of it from firefox was to remove firefox and re download it. I had tried other suggestions from internet but nothing worked.
