Why doesn't Firefox go to my Home page when I open a new tab? It used to.

It should at least be a selectable option

Firefox has never had a feature to have the Homepage load in a new tab, but there are a number of extensions which add that feature to Firefox.

That's not good enough. I just don't get it. Why hasn't Mozilla incorporated the "use homepage for new tabs" extension as standard yet in FF 5??? dumb, dumb, dumb. And now the one extension that worked isn't compatible with the FF 5 upgrade. Wonderful. Thanks firefox!

Quite honestly I don't see the need for a feature like that. You can open your Homepage in a new Tab by middle-clicking the Home button (or doing a {Ctrl + Click} with the Home button). Just a matter of learning how Firefox does work, instead of getting upset about something you think is important isn't in Firefox.

You can use this extension, and set the URL to your Homepage, if that is what you prefer.

was there really a large selection of the population who preferred a useless blank page over the homepage they have chosen themselves??? And every solution I read suggests "middle clicking" the home button. I DON'T HAVE A MIDDLE BUTTON. Ctrl-clicking is ridiculous for something so simple, I prefer using CTRL T to open new tabs. I'm not saying it should be default but they could have at least made it an option.

All I know is that Firefox has never has that feature, and I have been a Firefox user long before the Firefox name was adopted - since Phoenix 0.3.

Beyond Mac's, I haven't seen a real computer for sale in over ten years that didn't have a middle-mouse button. Even most laptops these days have some sort of way to emulate the middle-mouse button, if they don't have one.

Why do you keep saying that Firefox never had the "use home page for new tabs" feature? It absolutely did. New tabs went directly to my home page every time.

Because that is true. If you had that feature in Firefox, it was added by an extension.

You're absolutely right..new tabs opened to home page. It never ceases to amaze me how difficult it is to get a simple answer from a simple question.
