I can view the Vimeo videos with the Safari browser
That site uses Flash which you don't appear to have installed. Download from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ See screenshot.
Installed Flashplayer 10.2.159.1
Went to Vimeo, got this error:
<This video can’t be played with your current setup. Please upgrade to a modern HTML5-compliant browser Or install Adobe’s Flash Player. >
Are you saying that the new "Made to make the Web a better place" version FireFox 4 is NOT a modern HTML5- compliant browser?
Firefox 4 supports WebM and HTML5.
Can you see the link to "Switch to HTML5" below that video? I cannot see it on my system. See http://vimeo.com/blog:268
I cannot see it in FireFox, however I can see it if I use Safari! FireFox still says I have not downloaded Flash! Is there a way to link the Flash file on to FireFox so it see it?
Weird-- yes I can view you-tube vids. The first vid said I needed flash, but after that all the vids worked. I can now see Vimeo vids also Seems viewing in You tube must have forced the link to Flash, go figure.
Is this a common problem or procedure for linking Flash?
I haven't heard of it before, but sometimes apps need a kick in the rear end to get going again. ;)
Incidentally, sign up to the youtube html5 experiment by clicking the link at the foot of this page: http://www.youtube.com/html5
That might even influence the way the vimeo HTML5 player works, you never know.
