bold textIn the past few days I started getting an error when ever I tried to play a video. I'd get "an error has occurred, please try again later". I did, but I get the same error on all videos, regardless of location or topic.
To fix and troubleshoot, I tried disabling Real Player extension - no joy. I tried Safe Mode - no joy. I UNINSTALLED and REINSTALLED all of my Adobe apps with the most current versions (Reader, Air, Shockwave, Player,etc.) - no joy.
The only changes that have taken in place anywhere near the start of this issue are 25 Windows updates over the past 72 hours or so. All called "Security" or ":NET Framework" updates.
I am running Win 7 HP X64 on a HP Envy i7 laptop. Unless Youtube has done something to cause this, it almost has to be those Windows updates. Any solution? And why can't you make FF 12.0 compatible with Deng bookmarks and Real Player? All these FF update that turn off my favorite add-ons and and extensions are NOT welcomed! Can't you work out these issuye BEFORE you visit them on your users? Try working with these other providers, BEFORE publication. Bad form!

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
You can also try to reset the preferences on the safe mode start window.
If that didn't help then try to reset Firefox.
Please take the time to READ before you post. I tried all of that. My system clears cache every time it closes FF. I do NOT take 3rd party cookies and it's not some sites, it ALL video on all sites! I've tried Safe Mode, Reset, updating all Adobe, disabling Real (& Safe mode). The issue continues. No videos, anywhere, from YouTube to TMZ- zip. I suspect the cause is somewhere in the 25 ":security" and "NET Framework" updates installed by Windows Updates in the past 3 days.
Any other ideas? I see that this occurred once a long time ago with FF 3.6. But I can find no viable solution on YouTube Forum, Adobe Help, or here. I also see that hundreds of people are reporting this and the number is rapidly growing. Time for an emergency meeting, I think.
This is curious; you know that "How to" video that shown up when you update FFF and it first reopens? Well, that, and ONLY that video works! It plays, but when I immediately try YouTube, I get the same error message. Seems to be restricted to ALL Flash video everywhere. So it's video TYPE specific, NOT location, site, or cookie related. Any other suggestions?
That is a WebM video that is played with an embedded player and not with the Flash player.

Any luck with Private Browsing mode?
Did you check your firewall (security) software to be sure that is isn't affecting Flash or cookies?
Is Flash local storage enabled and working?

In the control panel all Flash settings are AOK. If I go online to the Flash Setting Manager, that image DOES NOT show up! That part of the page is BLANK!
As for the Firewall, I am running Norton 360. All of the Adobe apps are (or were) set to AUTO. I have changed them all to ALLOW but that changed nothing.
I'm not sure what you're asking about "Privacy Mode". Please Explain. I see the number of users with this issue is still climbing. On the Adobe forum, we are looking at 500 plus and climbing!
I figured out that FF video. This seems restricted to Flash videos.

I too have the same issue with Firefox and flash videos. I haven't tried to use other browser yet, but I will when I finish this. I first saw this yesterday with Firefox 12.0; same issue with FF 13.0 now. No video anywhere will play, from YouTube to TMZ! I either get an error "error occurred try again later", or the area on the page where the video should be is blank. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Adobe items several times. Control Panel says they are installed and Flash Manager in CP is OK, but when I go ONLINE to verify or check version, the page is blank. Likewise is the Online Flash Settings Manager. I have tried flushing FF cache, cookies, reset and Safe Mode - all yields zip! It all worked Ok last week. This is just starting either today or last day or so. The ONLY possible cause that I can find is that Windows published about 25 "security" and "NET Framework" updates on June 12, 13, and 14. I suspect the cause might lie there. Last time I check with forums over 500 people were looking for solution to this issue and that number is just in last 24 and it's steadily climbing. I think this is pretty pandemic for Firefox and Flash whatever the cause. If it isn't fixed it will KILL Firefox (maybe that's somebody's goal? - I can see Microsoft/Windows doing something like that to remove competition with their IE browser!).
I tried to talk to Adobe Tech about it, but got stone walled. I posted on Firefox forum, but got nothing back that was useful. Like most I am running Win 7 HP x64. I am also using Norton 360 and have set the Firewall there to FULL ALLOW for all Adobe and even tried turning it OFF for a while with no luck.
At this point, I am fully lost. I have flushed, deleted, reinstalled, updated, disabled, verified, tested, safe moded and God knows what else all without any luck. I guess I am going to start using Chrome; I really hate IE9. (Sorry, Microsoft, suck a big one ) . I am @OldeGreyWoolf on Twitter; if you find a solution, please drop me a tweet! I'll do the same! The same thing happened to me! It happened when i installed the latest update to Adobe Flash Player(11.3.300.257). So i uninstalled and reinstalled Version 126.96.36.199 and now all my videos play again!
Ive uninstalled and installed just like everyone else. So i tried the older version Version 188.8.131.52 but it says new version is available and stops me?
Shunshorts has it right! The problem is FP 11.3. Something in it isn't compatible with FF. You have to FIRST uninstall the FP 11.3 and then get the archived 11.2 zip file (http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/.../fp_11.2.2
