This computer is old; how can I stop the "update plugin" messages?

This computer runs Mac OS 10.4.11 on a Power PC chip. I keep getting a small window at the top of the screen that says: "Some plugins used by this page are out of date". The problem is that this old computer will not accept any of the new plugins proposed (Flash, QuickTime, Java, etc.). How can I stop the message from popping up?

enter "about:config" into the address bar of the browser, confirm the info dialog, then search for the preference named "plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin" & double-click it in order to toggle it to "true".

please note that firefox also won't support the ppc architecture any longer, however if you want to use an up-to-date browser based on firefox you can switch to "tenfourfox" - Firefox no longer works with Mac OS X 10.4 or PowerPC processors

Fantastic! The name "madperson" appears to be very inappropriate. Thank you

I went straight to TenFourFox, but it says it '...no longer supports browser plugins. If you require using Flash, Java or other plugins, do not use TenFourFox.' Is that right?

TenFourFox does not support plugins, for details why they chose not to see http://code.google.com/p/tenfourfox/wiki/PluginsNoLongerSupported

Re: This computer is old; how can I stop the "update plugin" messages?

Its great there is an answer to this annoying problem and it seems simple but i am having trouble. I have looked at the about:config page several times and can't see Preferences. There is a Contents box which has Resetting Preferences and i've gone in there a few times but can't find the outdated plugin item also on the page are a number of live links that i have tried but can't find specific plugins. What exactly is needed to confirm Info Dialogue please? Why can't they just give us an option of choosing not to keep seeing the message if we don't wish to. I see from comments here that Tenfourfox doesn't have the plugins. Is this important? I don't have knowledge of plugins. I want to keep using my eMac, i have 10.5 but its a PPC machine and the limitations are becoming (unfortunately) obvious.

Re: This computer is old; how can I stop the "update plugin" messages?

I have come into the forum to make a post to say that with a fresh mind this morning i had another look and have been successful. I had to click "Edit"in order to get to where i needed to go. Nothing else i clicked got me there. I have now double clicked the outdated plugin preference. I see there were 4 answers to my question but none have come through to me. I am still interested in Tenfourfox situation. Have had a look at my settings on the forum and everything is enabled so i don't know what is going on. I will check again. I'm assuming i would be notified that there are answers? As it stands no one will be able to tell me through this medium if it isn't working for me.

     Thank you

Nobody but spambots/spammers will be sending email replies Smiley Wink. If they need to contact you it will be by post or by Private message in which a email notification will get sent.

TenFourFox is a third-party Firefox option to have the current version of Firefox however it does not make use of any Plugins you have installed on Mac. The reason is because plugins for PowerPC are unmaintained and insecure.

Thanks James, yes i did realise about the spammers and i would be watching. Its not an address i use much at all. Yours is the first message to reach me from the forum. I had checked my private messages but nothing was there. I still don't know where the other 4 answers are. About the plugins.. i don't know what they supply and what i would be missing without them. I am so used to FFox. An older version of FF seems to perform better than an older Safari so i have stuck with it.
