I keep getting this message on Firefox: Unable to connect
' Firefox can't establish a connection to the server www.examplewebsite.com The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.'
my other browsers (IE and Chrome) work fine. I want to use firefox as this has some useful add-ons which are not available on the other browsers.
I've checked my firewall and deleted firefox from the list of programs allowed and then added it again but this did not work. I've disabled by firewall, but firefox is still unable to connect. I've uninstalled and re-installed firefox but this also did not work. I've reset firefox to default settings and this did not work. I've also clicked the 'no proxy' in tools/options/ etc but this did not work.
Please could someone help!
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

I've re-opened firefox in safe mode but I still get the same message when I try to go on other sites.

I've just removed firefox program files and reinstalled it but the problem still persists.
I've only gotten this problem since firefox autimatically updated. Is there any way of downloading an older version?
you can try firefox esr
No that hasn't worked. I still get the same message.
