My Top Sites doesn't work since I had to RESET FIreFox(19.0)I had Malware Problem. What happens is nothing will load into the grids OR my sites are there, but I can't see them?
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
After your reset, were all your bookmarks and history restored? I believe that your "Top Sites" grid uses the browser history for a database.
Can you verify that your "Top Sites" is active? In the upper right corner of a "new tab" window, there should be a small icon that toggles the "Top Sites" grid on and off.
I got rid of the malware(claro)that isn't the problem
yes topsites is active,I just get blue boxes(tabs)in the grid and it won't accept any web sites(I click the add site but nothing happens
Can you drag a bookmark or history link into one of the boxes on the about:newtab page?
Make sure that the History is enabled:
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.
NO I can't drag bookmark or link to tab.Yes I am NOT in private browser mode.YES,Remember my browsing and download history ,is ENABLED.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
New Profile didn't work. Its funny that this add-on has worked for a couple or more years and now since the reset NADA.
You could type "about:config" into the address bar and type newtab in the search box to find the settings. If you see anything obvious, you could change it. You could also open "Help>Troubleshooting Information" for some very detailed information concerning your Firefox.
When you "mouseover" a square on the grid, does it display the "close" and "pin" icons in the upper corners? Or are the squares unresponsive?
As a last resort, you could copy your bookmarks or sync them with Firefox sync of Xmarks so you don't lose them; then completely uninstall and re-install Firefox, including the config and data files in the "program data" and "user" folders.
