Is there a way to talk to a person? I've tried all the gimmicks, I've posted in this forum, nothing works and I am about to give up and try Safari.

I keep getting "a script on this page may be stuck (or something like this): stop script or continue" no matter what tab I have open, but since I am on FB more often than not, it is usually there. I always click stop script.

Just now, it crashed, without warning, while I was typing.

I clear cache REGULARLY now, every few minutes in fact. I have the browser set to clear at shutdown. As far as I know, I have the latest version of FF, I have the latest flash players and add-on's.

I send crash reports with every crash, which is almost daily now, twice in the last 45 min. Sometimes with a blue screen, but I think that was the laptop overheating and I have fixed that.

I have Vipre antivirus, I have Malwarebytes anti malware,

The last time I was having this issue, it was on my PC. Now it is on my laptop. I have Reset Firefox, I have saved my old profile and created a new one.

I am seriously....SERIOUSLY thinking of trying out Safari; I had it when I had a Mac. I cannot STAND IE, so Safari is my only alternative at this time.

Hello jtfried,

I am sorry that you're having troubles with Firefox. We do not offer phone support, but I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

Try any or all of the following:

  • Run an full anti-virus scan
  • Scan for bad registries (I recommend using CCleaner)
  • Defragment your computer's hard drive
  • Delete all temporary memory and cache
  • Remove unwanted/unused programs
  • Remove unused Firefox extensions
  • Update all Firefox plugins

Also, make sure that your anti-virus or anti-malware programs are not conflicting with the Firefox application.

Some examples of how anti-virus and anti-malware programs conflict with Firefox:

  • Not allowing Firefox internet connection
  • Not allowing Firefox to change/use some files on your computer

If the above doesn't help, there is a pretty easy way to share your crash reports in this forum. You need to copy and paste some codes from your about:crashes page into a reply. This article has tips on that: Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes.
