If I uninstall Mozilla then re-install it, will I lose bookmarks, etc?

In Vista, Mozilla won't even start up in some user profiles anymore. So I want to uninstall it and reinstall it. But if I do this, will we lose bookmarks in the user profiles where it works? What are my options so I don't have to switch back to Internet Explorer?

No, You will not lose bookmarks if you just uninstall and re-install Mozilla Firefox. However, if you delete the File Mozilla Firefox it will. So as long as you just go to Add/Remove Programs and Remove it from there.

When you uninstall Firefox there is an option to "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations", this option is not selected by default. As long as you do not select that option your bookmarks etc will not be deleted.

Re-installing Firefox does not usually solve problems, this troubleshooting article may help - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
