How can I prevent the FF infobar from shifting the page being viewed downward?

I was wondering if there is a way to change the behavior of the FireFox Infobar (I hope I'm using the correct terminology -- I'm referring to the bar that appears below the URL to notify of blocked pop-ups or to prompt for redirects when auto-redirect is turned off).

Is there some way to have it hover/float over the top of webpage in its current location rather than shifting the entire page down? I ask because these notifications frequently appear after a significant portion of the page is rendered. The problem this causes for me is that I will sometimes click on a link/space on a page and due to the fact that the whole page shifts as I'm clicking (or possibly due to latency between when I complete my action and FF accepts my input) I will end up clicking where I do not want to.

I tried to search for this, but I was unable to find an answer; I wonder if it's because I'm referring to it as the Infobar when it's really called something else? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can't prevent an info notification bar from shifting down the web page content. Your only option would be to disable those notification bars and have the pop-up click button on the location bar and allow redirects.

The setting in "Tools > Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

Thanks for your quick reply and for pointing me to information about the purpose of the blockautorefresh option. I hope the suggested wording in the bugzilla request is implemented, but regardless thanks for enhancing my knowledge about redirect mechanisms. I had a somewhat false sense of increased security using that setting for an unintended function.

Maybe this is not the place to ask this (maybe I should suggest something as an enhancement), but does anybody know of a slightly more visible alternative to the location bar notification of blocked pop-ups if you turn off the info bar? Anything in prefs.js or maybe other options in about:config? Thanks.
