This problem began one day without changing any settings months ago. I have read all the tip,s tricks, and step-by-step instructions for these settings on the Firefox support forum, but without telling my PC to clear my history each time then it will start my previous session without fail. I want my history saved, I just don't want to have my previous session to be the the Firefox start up page. It's very irritating when I start Firefox up and have to go and close out five tabs as well as clicking the home button just to get to what I specified to be my home page. I'm very much distraught since I just read a question that was posted over 3 months ago with the exact same issue but with no solution. Anyway I appreciate anyone's help.
Please: no suggestions that would imply I never touched a computer. If it's the basics... I've already made the attempt.

You can delete this user.js file as you do not need it and it likely has been created by other software.
You can also choose to remove all text in the file and save that empty file and set it to read-only to prevent it from reappearing.
The "yahoo.ytff" would suggest that at least this entry had been added by the Yahoo Toolbar for Firefox.
Configuring session restore
By default, when Firefox starts, a single window is opened, displaying your specified home page. If you wish, you can configure Firefox to open all windows and tabs from your previous session:
Startup Options - Win
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options Select the General panel. From the When Firefox starts drop-down, select Show my windows and tabs from last time. Click OK to close the Options window
You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
OK first of all, I'd like to express my appreciation for taking the time to respond to my question and so for that I say thank you. Now, I do NOT intend any disrespect here but it seems that you didn't actually read my question. I say this based on two aspects.
First, the last thing I said in my post was that there be no responses basically implying that I'm stupid by telling me how change the settings with how Firefox starts because again, I have read word for word exactly what Firefox instructions say at their support/how-to section (Which I already knew).
Second, my issue is that every time I start Firefox I get my last session INSTEAD of what I want which is as you say the supposed default action. Now, if this seems demeaning it is not meant to. I just don't know how much more clear I could've been in my original post.
Did you check if you have a user.js in Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true?
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
As for the other possible solution provided... I know I asked for no posts that would be indicative that I've never touched a computer before and I certainly appreciate you giving me that respect. However, you may have given more credit in experience to me than I'm actually knowledgeable with. I have spent the past hour reading page after page of tech talk while also trying to locate this "user.js" file you mentioned via, or I should say starting with, the links you provided above. I am so far unsuccessful in being able to say weather there is a "user.js" file in this elusive Firefox profile folder that you speak of. So I'm stuck and feel that I could spend a week looking over code and developer area jargon and still have no definitive knowledge about this ""user.js" file. so now I have two more questions for your.
1st: Obviously, and with quite a dumbfounded look on my face, I'm thinking of one word... Huh... Basically I've zero experience in the coding/developer world and am just running in circles without a more step by step help guidance.
2nd: If I gotta go through all this to fix the issue I gotta ask the question , how the hell did it get changed in the first place?
Holy crap! I found it! Ok, it is currently set to false. Is that my problem, or is that the correct setting?
Did you click the button on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page to go to the Firefox profile folder?
Windows hides some file extensions by default and among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see a user file without file extension.
You can see the real file extension (type) if you open the Properties of the file via the right-click context menu.
A user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so if the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once is set to true via this file then Firefox will restore the previous session every time you start Firefox.
This pref is automatically reset to false after a start, so if you see this pref on the about:config page as set to false then this is no guarantee that it can't be set to true via other ways.
False is the correct value for this pref, but what matters is if there is a line in user.js that sets it to true on the next start.
Did you try to open this file in Notepad for inspection (assuming that you found the file in the profile folder)?
Ok, that is exactly the kind of description I need. Now you're talking to me. I've right clicked and selected toggle and I've even double clicked it which appears to simply alternate froma value of true and false. I've left it as true. I don't how to apply the change or even if I'm even in the required location in order to make changes so I'm just coolin out awaiting your input.
btw... THANK YOU!!!
