Re: Firefox.exe application error

Did you try to start in Safe mode to check for a possible problem with hardware acceleration?

See:

Does the Firefox crash reporter come up?

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

If you can't open Firefox then see:

"The exception unknown software exception (0xc0000417) occured in the application at location 0x78b2ae6e"

I get this message when I try to launch Firefox. It just started randomly and I am at a loss.

I did try launching Firefox in SafeMode and have the same issue. What's going on? Why would this start? Any ideas on how to move forward and fix this?

I did not try looking for hardware acceleration issues because I did not change anything and honeslty I do not know how to check for this ... please help ... see image

Are you able to start Firefox in Safe mode?

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
  • On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Re: Firefox.exe application error

Ok, just follow these steps, I've also encountered this problem lately. I just try to solve it using trial and error and I just found out that my problem was already solved. Here, just go to control panel then add or remove programs, you can see some unnecessary program installed. Try to uninstall programs that are new to you or add ons installed to your computer or just simply removed program or files that seems newly installed. I just did this steps and suddenly I just open mozilla and google chrome at last!

Hope these work guys. Good luck!
