Cant start Firefox, profile missing or inaccessible error msg., so can't access Firefox toolbar to look at profile manager.
MAC OS X 10.6.8 running on MacBook Pro. Error occurred last night while I was online, Firefox jumped me out of program I was on. I updated, it was taking so long I closed window. Now I can't open Firefox. I'v tried reinstalling several times, won't work. Keep getting same profile missing or inaccessible error. Suggestions on help blog here keep referring to Profile manager, however, can't access that because I don't have Firefox tool bar, can't open Firefox. Where is the phone number for live help? I'm no Geek. Need simple help please. REALLY WOULD LIKE LIVE HELP, NOT ENDLESS READING OF OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS, which by the way, have not solved this issue for them either.
Re: Cant start Firefox, profile missing or inaccessible error msg., so can't access Firefox toolbar to look at profile manager.
go to ~/Library/Firefox ( The tilde character (~) refers to the current user's Home folder, so ~/Library is the /Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/Library folder)
then find profiles.ini file and rename it to profiles.iniOLD , then when you start firefox again, a new default profile folder will be created and only a single profile, the new "default", will be listed in the Profile Manager.
This new "default" profile doesn't contain any of the profile data or settings stored in your old "default" profile folder, which still exists but is no longer accessible from the Profile Manager.
