Can a hacker be stopped through Firefox

I have had to change my passwords for FB and e-mail at least 3 times in the last couple of days. Under my FB account it shows someone in Mount Laurel, N.J. is signing into my account. I have written down the complete IP address of this hacker. They also sent e-mails to friends, oddly enough just saying hi or hello and nothing obscene, for now. How can they be stopped? I am computer illiterate so if you have a solution just be specific...and patient. Please, please help. Thanks.

Re: Can a hacker be stopped through Firefox

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Mr. iamjayakumars....thanks for your input. I am already trying some of these steps. I have not checked FB yet to see if the hacker has logged in again. I have their IP info written down, but don't know what to do with it, but thank you again for your helpful hints.

Re: Can a hacker be stopped through Firefox

Someone may be gaining access to your computer or using some sort of bot on your computer, so it is definitely worth checking for malware.

Someone may also be directly accessing your email account and FaceBook account. You should immediately contact both the email and FaceBook providers to report this problem. Changing passwords may help.
