Enable "Do not track" in Firefox (Practice)

Mozilla Firefox offers a Do Not Track feature that lets you express a preference not to be tracked by websites. This article will explain how to enable Do Not Track.

What is tracking?

Tracking is when websites, such as advertising companies, track which websites you go to, and what you search. This can be used for tailoring suggestions & advertising to you personally, for example.

How does Do Not Track work?

When Do Not Track is enabled, Firefox will tell advertising networks and other websites and applications that you would like to opt-out of tracking for purposes like behavioral advertising.

Note: Do Not Track is an expressed preference. This means that websites do not have to respect it.

How to enable Do Not Track

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Options.Preferences.
  2. Click on the Privacy Tab to open the privacy menu
  3. Put a check mark next to Tell sites that I do not want to be tracked to enable Do Not Track
