There's an edit pending to remove the first method,

  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload button with a left click.

According to https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache it should work: Quote: Firefox and other related browsers

These instructions work for Firefox, SeaMonkey, Netscape 6, and other related browsers.

On Windows and Linux, use one of the following:

  • Hold both the Ctrl and ⇧ Shift keys and then press R.
  • Hold the ⇧ Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.
  • Hold the Ctrl key and press the F5 key.

On Mac OS X, use one of the following:

  • Hold both the ⌘ Cmd and ⇧ Shift keys and then press R.
  • Hold the ⇧ Shift key and click the Reload button on the navigation toolbar.

You're right. The first message works fine (Win 8.1 x64 Fx39) and I made a mistake while trying to reproduce it yesterday. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience!

No problem!

(For the record, the pending revision has been removed.)

I have a pending revision to remove "with a left click" from the Shift-Reload instructions, since it can cause confusion (most people just say "click" or "right-click").

I changed the instructions to the following:

  • Hold down the Shift key and click the Reload FxReloadButton button in the navigation toolbar.

mmmh my problem is that I cannot see any "reload button" in the navigation toolbar. My reload button (fx 38 and fx nightly) can be reached with : -- right-click on a page -- the context-menu window appears -- click on the reload button and it is useless to prss the Ctrl key. see screenshot https://lut.im/T7kl2lAR/nFAzccA0

Any suggestion?

I don't know why you don't see a reload button in the navigation toolbar. It would be within the address (location) bar, all the way at the right. It might help if you post a screenshot showing your navigation toolbar and address bar. You could try resetting your toolbar settings to the defaults - see Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars. If that doesn't help try basic troubleshooting or ask a question on the support forum if no one else has a suggestion here.
